Obituary for Diana Jean Brown (Vessels)

Diana Jean Brown was born on December 2, 1958 to Claudette and James Vessels in Hillsboro, Texas. She entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 5, 2023. Jean was born and raised in Hillsboro, though she did live for awhile in Ennis, Texas. As a Child she loved spending time with her siblings and cousins. After attending Hill College, she worked as a waitress and cleaned homes. Jean devoted her life to taking care of others. She was a caretaker not by trade, but by choice. She loved caring for people and making their life easier. She had a heart of gold and had the talent of turning a bad situation into a good one. She was the matriarch of the family and will be missed dearly.

Jean is the mother of two sons, Jerry and Joseph. Her sons have always been her 1st priority. Jean also thoroughly enjoyed her role as grandmother to Megan, Julie, Emily Jessica, Camey, Mariah, “Tre”, and great grandmother to Hunner. She was family oriented, and especially enjoyed taking trips with them. Once she took a trip to California with Jerry and her grandchildren; though she was robbed – she still had the time of her life. Another trip she fondly remembered was going to Colorado with her husband Randy and her son Joseph.
She had a vivid sense of humor, and was always pulling pranks. Her favorite colors were blue and yellow; she was especially fond of yellow roses. Jean could often be found playing cards, dominos, going to the lake or beach, and visiting casinos. She enjoyed the music of Alan Jackson, and Elvis; television shows Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the Young and the Restless. Jean gave back to her community as a member of Peoria Baptist Church and American Legion in Whitney, Post 522.

She is preceded in death by her mother Claudette Martin vessels Flaherty; father James Vessels; brother James Vessels, Jr; sister Kay Horn; and brother in law Jesse Spurgers.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband Randy Brown; children Jerry Vessels and wife Sheila, son Joseph Greninger and wife Rachel; grandchildren Megan Vessels, Julie Vessels, Emily Vessels, Jessica Hughes, Camey Hughes, Mariah Greninger, and Joseph Allen Greninger III “Tre”; sister Jackie Frazier; brothers Gary Vessels and John Vessels; great grandson Hunner Vessels; many nieces and nephews; and countless other chosen family who called her mom or Aunt Jean.
