Obituary for Darrel Lynn Savage

Darrel Lynn Savage, of Hillsboro, TX, surrounded by family and friends, passed away on December 31, 2022, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, TX, after a brief illness.

Darrel was born December 13, 1963, in Mineral Wells, TX, to Joan Lewallen and Irvin Savage. He attended Mineral Wells High School. He served his country in the Navy and then the Navy Reserves. After his service, he held several jobs, most notably at Mouser Electronics and then as a field electrician in the oil and gas industry.
Darrel loved hunting, fishing, cooking for family and friends, and teaching the kids and grandkids how to shoot, gun safety, and how to fish. He enjoyed arrowhead hunting and had a beautiful collection of his finds. He enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.

During his time at Mouser Electronics, Darrel met the love of his life, Keli Jean Savage (nee Medina), who preceded him in death on March 8, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Darrel is survived by his children Jonathan Savage of Cleburne, TX , Miranda Crist (nee Robinson) and husband Trevor of Nacogdoches, TX, Dakota Rance Medina of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Regan Brianne Greene (nee Savage) and Austin of Hillsboro, TX; grandchildren Jon Savage, Ary Savage, Xander Luna, Evangelina Savage, Korie Jean Perry, Brylee Faith Teague, and Kaydence Elaine Crist; siblings Barbara Jarmon (nee Gibbs), Randall (Shellie) Gibbs, Jerry "Bubba" Gibbs, Loretta Savage, Shawn Savage, Michael Parrish, and Leah Hignojos; and many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on January 6, 2023, at 11 am, at the First Baptist Church, 300 E Franklin St, Hillsboro, TX 76645. The family will hold a private burial of his cremains at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to a veterans organization of your choosing.
