Obituary for Carlos Fox

Carlos Dewayne Fox, 80, passed away at his residence Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

Memorial Services will be at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney, Texas with Rev. Rick Pinner officiating. His wishes were cremation.

Carlos was born June 11, 1941, in Altus, Oklahoma to Joe M. Fox and Juanita (Sis) Carr Fox. He graduated Crane High School in 1960. He attended Sul Ross State University where he rode bulls on the Rodeo Team. Carlos raised his family in Crane while he worked at Webb’s Grocery as a butcher from 1961-1976. He later partnered with Denny Porter to start a new grocery store in 1976 and Fox Thriftway came to be. He was the Manager/Owner from 1976-1998. In 1998 he moved to Burkburnett, Texas where he owned and operated Fox Show Supply until 2005. He eventually settled at Lake Whitney Texas where he eventually went to work for Sullivan Show Supply in January 2006 and stayed with them fourteen years until he retired in 2020.

Whether it was the grocery business or stock show supply business, throughout the years, Carlos had tremendous work ethic which he passed on to his children and those he mentored along the way. He loved being at the stock shows where he became friends with hundreds of stock show families and loved visiting/helping everyone. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grand father. He was always a generous person to those in need. He will be greatly missed.

Carlos is survived by his three children Jimmy Fox and wife Cindy of Odessa, Lana Fox of Ft. Worth, Johnny Fox and wife Kristie of Sweetwater, Shane Knight of Rockport and Stacy Knight-Finley and husband Jake of Winnsboro, grand children Raquel Fox, Manuel Fox, Kayleigh Fox-Bergren, Cameron Fox, Katie Fox, Gideon Finley, Maggie Finley, Samantha Sherman, Charles Idro Tapia, 4 great-grandchildren, and sister Fredia Neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Fox, mother Juanita Pierce and Stepfather John Pierce, sister Patty Hollingsworth, brothers Billy Pierce and Floyd Pierce.
